Apple has launched the AirPods Pro 3, marking its most significant overhaul of the premium earbuds in years. Priced at around $249, these new earbuds are available for preorder now and will begin shipping on September 19, 2025.

Health Meets Audio: Heart-Rate Sensor Integration

For the first time, Apple has embedded a custom heart-rate sensor into AirPods. Utilizing photoplethysmography (PPG)—via invisible infrared light pulsed 256 times per second—these buds can track heart rate and calories burned across over 50 workout types using sensor fusion and AI on the iPhone. The data syncs with the Fitness app’s new “Workout Buddy” feature to offer real-time workout metrics.

Superior Audio and Noise Cancellation

Audio-wise, the AirPods Pro 3 deliver what Apple claims to be the “world’s best” Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), thanks to a redesigned ear tip fit based on 10,000 3D scans. The retractable tips now include foam-infused microspheres for enhanced seal and comfort.

Live Translation for Seamless Communication

A standout addition is the Live Translation feature, enabling real-time translation during conversations—completely hands-free when both users wear the earbuds. By suppressing external audio and playing back speech in your preferred language, the AirPods Pro 3 aim to break down language barriers. A deeper exploration of this feature suggests it may initially appear as a beta and roll out gradually.

Durability, Fit, and Battery Life Enhancements

With IP57 water and sweat resistance, these earbuds are built for active lifestyles. They come with five sizes of ear tips for a customized fit. Battery life now reaches 8 hours on a single charge—an upgrade over previous models.
