Apple India has reduced the price of the base iPhone 17 by ₹6,000 during its pre-booking period, making the 256 GB variant available for ₹82,900. This adjustment comes amid strong consumer interest in the iPhone 17 series.

Pre-bookings for the iPhone 17 line began on September 12 at 5:30 PM, with the phones scheduled to go on sale from September 19. Retailer Croma, among others, is handling both the online and in-store bookings across hundreds of outlets. The booking amount for the base iPhone 17 and Air models is modest, while Pro versions carry a higher advance fee.

Alongside the base model price cut, Apple has set prices for the rest of the series as follows: the iPhone 17 512 GB comes in at ₹1,02,900; the iPhone Air 256 GB at ₹1,19,900; iPhone Pro starts at ₹1,34,900; and the Pro Max at ₹1,49,900 for the 256 GB version. Prices rise with higher storage tiers.

This is the first time Apple has both reduced the base price of a new series model (when compared to its immediate predecessor) and increased its base storage across all variants. Last year’s iPhone 16 base model had 128 GB storage; the 2025 models all start at 256 GB storage, adding value for consumers.

While the base iPhone 17’s price cut is a welcome move for customers, higher-end Pro and Pro Max models have seen price increases over their 2024 counterparts, largely due to upgraded components, enhanced features, and improvements in display, camera, and processing capabilities.

If you plan to buy, pre-ordering quickly may help you avoid disappointment: premium models often face limited availability early on. Also, check offers from Apple authorised partners and credit card discounts which may further reduce cost effectively.

With a lower entry price, more storage, and strong pre-booking demand, Apple appears to have positioned the iPhone 17 series to be both aspirational and more accessible in India’s competitive market.
